Just months before its highly anticipated release, Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) has suffered another major leak. Multiple gameplay videos, along with images claiming to show the full map of Leonida, began appearing online on August 18, 2026, quickly spreading across social media and gaming communities.
The timing is particularly significant. Rockstar Games is preparing an official “Extended Look” at GTA 6 for August 27, while the game itself is currently scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Who Leaked the GTA 6 Videos?
The group claiming responsibility is known as CyberLeek. A website using that name began publishing alleged GTA 6 gameplay footage on August 18, along with images claimed to represent the complete Leonida map. However, the identities of the people behind CyberLeek have not been publicly verified, so it would be inaccurate at this stage to name a specific individual as the hacker or source.
CyberLeek has also claimed that it possesses additional unreleased footage. According to reports, the group issued statements aimed at Rockstar and other major game publishers, criticizing issues such as the industry’s movement toward digital-only distribution and what it described as “fake” single-player DLC. The group has threatened further releases, although its claims about what additional material it possesses remain unverified.
This means the 2026 incident should not be confused with the famous 2022 GTA 6 leak, which involved a different source and resulted in around 90 development videos appearing online.
What Do the New Videos Show?
The leaked material appears considerably more polished than the extremely early development footage seen in 2022.
One of the first clips reportedly shows protagonist Jason Duval around his waterside home. Jason moves around the property before picking up a basketball and playing on a nearby court. Successfully scoring appears to provide an increase to a “Focus” statistic, potentially suggesting that activities and character progression could be more closely connected than in GTA V.
A second video shows Jason driving around Leonida before crashing into another vehicle. The situation escalates into a fight and eventually attracts police attention. Several interesting interface elements appear during the sequence, including prompts for “Loadout” and “Storage” near Jason’s vehicle.
Most interestingly, a fuel or gas indicator reportedly appears alongside the vehicle information. If this feature survives into the final game, GTA 6 could potentially require players to manage vehicle fuel — although features appearing in unfinished development builds can always be changed or removed before release.
Other interface details have fueled speculation about an expanded reputation or morality system. A negative symbol paired with a purple devil-like icon appears after Jason’s violent actions, leading some observers to wonder whether GTA 6 could feature a reputation mechanic somewhat reminiscent of Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption games. For now, that interpretation remains speculation rather than a confirmed feature.
More Videos Continue to Appear
The leak did not stop with the initial two clips.
By August 19, reports indicated that a third video had appeared, showing Jason inside a nightclub or strip-club environment while interacting with NPCs and receiving messages through the game’s fictional messaging system.
A fourth clip was subsequently reported, featuring additional driving, interactions with NPCs and part of a cutscene involving Jason on a boat. Interestingly, music heard in this clip reportedly includes Tate McRae’s “Sports Car,” released in 2025. That detail has complicated earlier theories that all of the leaked footage necessarily comes from a 2023 or 2024 build.
There is still uncertainty about exactly when the footage was recorded. Analysis of one video’s encoding metadata pointed to FFmpeg software released in late 2023, but that only establishes information about when the file could have been encoded — not when the gameplay itself was captured.
Alleged Full Leonida Map Also Leaked
Alongside the videos, an image claiming to show the complete GTA 6 map has circulated.
The map reportedly divides Leonida — Rockstar’s fictional interpretation of Florida — into several counties and includes Vice City, rural regions, islands and an extensive southern island chain resembling the Florida Keys. Reports have identified five county names on the leaked image: Vice Dale, Kelly, Leonard, Mariana and Lummox.
However, fans should be cautious about treating every location or marker visible in the image as final. GTA 6 remains in development, and internal maps can contain unfinished or temporary information.
Are the GTA 6 Leaks Real?
Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has publicly provided a detailed confirmation explaining the origin and authenticity of every circulating clip.
However, one reason the gaming community is taking the material seriously is the appearance of copyright takedowns against uploads sharing the footage. Multiple reports say videos and map posts have disappeared after copyright complaints. That strengthens the possibility that at least some of the material is genuine, although a takedown by itself does not prove every GTA 6 video currently circulating online is authentic.
That distinction has become especially important because AI-generated and older fake GTA 6 videos are also circulating alongside the new leak. Some users are even reposting material from the 2022 breach and presenting it as new footage.
Another Headache for Rockstar Before Launch
The leak arrives at an awkward moment for Rockstar. GTA 6 is officially scheduled for November 19, 2026, and Rockstar is only days away from showing players an Extended Look on August 27.
Despite the leaks, unfinished development footage should not necessarily be considered representative of the final product. Graphics, animations, gameplay mechanics, interface elements and even entire systems can change during development.
For players who want the most reliable picture of GTA 6, Rockstar’s upcoming presentation will therefore be far more important than leaked development clips.
What is clear, however, is that CyberLeek has created one of the biggest GTA 6 leak stories since the enormous 2022 breach. With the group claiming it possesses additional material and Rockstar apparently working to remove leaked footage from the internet, the situation may continue developing in the days leading up to the official August 27 showcase.
